Tomohiro or ONE is the alias of Japanese manga Artist. He was born on October 29th in 1986, so he’s part of the new generation of manga-ka. He is the official creator of the One Punch Man webcomics, which began in 2009.

ONE singlehandedly serialized the popular webcomic on his very own website, working independently until he got the offer from Yusuke Murata.

ONE is also known to serialize Mob Psycho 100 in the popular online version of the Weekly Shōnen Sunday, he writes and illustrates manga for his own entertainment.

ONE was born in Niigata and saw most of his upbringing in the city of Kōnosu in the Saitama Prefecture. ONE had been writing a ton of manga ever since he was a young boy, he created some manga which were never serialized such as “Taiyo Man” and “Tennis Player Ryu”. However, One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 were his medals of honor and he wears them proudly!

What is the story of One Punch Man?

One Punch Man follows the story of Saitama, who is just an average hero that somehow manages to win every single battle he’s a part of with just one punch.

This ends up being more harmful than good for Saitama, because now he cannot feel the same thrill and adventure that he felt as a superhero.

Now, tired of everything he does; Saitama still has to fulfil his duties as a hero despite being overwhelmingly bored of everything.

How popular is One Punch Man?

The One Punch Man manga had sold over 2.2 million copies in print by November of 2013. While that’s a long while ago, a recent tweet from Yusuke Murata back in July of 2019 shows that One Punch Man had sold over 20 million copies.

This is an insanely high number of copies sold, for a manga that began publishing less than a decade ago.

Once the manga was released in North America; both the first and second volumes managed to creep their way into the New York Times Manga Best Sellers list. They weren’t even low on that list; they were on the first and second spot, respectively.

They even managed to stay at the very top for over two weeks. The series went on to be nominated for the prestigious Eisner Award in 2015.
